Graduation Day Ceremonies

Where can I find information on graduation events?

  • You can find detailed information on graduation events on the Graduation website.

What is the difference between Commencement and Convocation?

  • Commencement involves all BYU-Idaho semester graduates and includes a speaker that congratulates the students on their recent accomplishment. Convocation only involves the semester graduates from your specific college; this ceremony is where the graduates walk across the stage and their names are read. For more information on these events, visit Graduation.

How do I get graduation tickets and what do they cost?

  • Tickets for Commencement are free and can be obtained online from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office. Login is not the same as your campus login. Call the ticket office if activating your account is resulting in an error.
    • Log in with your I-number or student email.
    • Once logged in there is a button on the left of the screen titled "Commencement". Click on it and it will direct you to order your tickets.
    • You can order up to 12 online. If you need more tickets, call (208-496-3150) or visit Events Services in Manwaring Center Room 230.
    • Tickets can be emailed and downloaded to your digital Wallet or as a PDF or picked up in person. There is no mailing option.
  • Tickets are not required for Convocations.

Is there an online option for graduation ceremonies?

What is the dress for friends and family?

  • Guests are encouraged to wear their Sunday best to all graduation events.
  • While on campus, we invite you to wear:
    • Clothing that would cover the temple garment line.
    • Clothing that is modest.
    • Clothing that is neat and clean.
What are accessibility accommodations?
  • Wheelchairs are available in I-center and Hart for guests. There will be a $50 deposit which will be returned when the wheelchair is.
  • Hearing aids and language aids (Spanish and Portuguese) will be provided in box office.
  • If a graduating student needs any services of any kind, they need to contact Accessibility Services at 208-496-9210 or visit their office, 181 Manwaring Center.
  • No animals are allowed. Only service dogs that have been trained to perform a certain task are permitted.

Troubleshooting Issues

I am a graduating student that does not have a name card, what should I do?

  • If you were not able to print out the name card that was emailed to you, head to the Hart or I-Center box offices! They will have official name cards as will ushers in the buildings.
