Caps, Gowns, Tassels, and Stoles 

Where can I buy them? 

• Graduation bundles (containing the cap, gown, stole, and tassel) are sold year-round at the University Store. Tassels and stoles can be purchased separately from the bundle. The current prices for these items are listed on the Graduation Apparel page. 
• All items are available for purchase during Grad Fest or on graduation day while supplies last. If you purchase online and choose in-store pickup, the store will hold your bundle until the day after graduation. If your order has not been picked up by then, it will be returned to stock and the $5 handling fee cannot be waived. 

What do they look like? 

• All caps and gowns are black, regardless of the degree earned. 
• The University Store only sells the official BYUI tassel; students are welcome to purchase one from a retailer of their choice, especially if they wish to have a year (i.e. 2024) signet. We recommend purchasing a silver signet to match the silver BYU-Idaho signet. 
• The University Store sells the official BYUI stole. It is not required, but it is allowed at graduation ceremonies. Students may also create their own stole. However, use of the BYUI logo is limited to using officially licensed items sold at the University Store. For example, students may purchase and use the embroidered BYUI patch sold in-store.

• Custom announcements can be ordered from Herff Jones or the Print & Copy Services on campus. 

Diploma Frames 

• A variety of options and finishes for diploma frames are available in-store and online. 
• Out of stock frames can potentially be specially ordered. Contact the University Store for more information. 

Class Rings 

• The University Store has a contract for class rings with Herff-Jones.

FAQ 

• Can I purchase a cap, gown, stole, or tassel separately? 
  • Gowns are not sold separately by the University Store. 
  • Caps, stoles, and tassels can be purchased separately at the University Store in-store or online. 
• Can I return a cap, gown, stole, or tassel? 
  • None of these items can be returned after purchase. 
• Do I have to buy my cap and gown from the University Store? 
  • Students may choose to purchase the cap, gown, stole, and tassel from other retailers or individual sellers. 
• Can someone pick up my order for me? 
  • Yes! The cashier will need confirmation from BOTH the student and the person picking up their item. 
    • The person picking up the item will need the student's I-Number. 
    • Confirmation will be completed via phone call or text at the register. 
• How do I check my online order status? 
  • If shipping to their home, students can check the status of their online order by contacting the University Store or emailing universitystoresupport@byui.edu
