Tassels, Caps and Gowns

ALL caps and gowns are black regardless of the degree earned. You can purchase a tassel, cap, and gown bundle two different ways:

Pre-order from Herff Jones

In-store or Online from the University Store

$10 Discount

Students are encouraged to pre-order their cap, gown, and tassel bundle from the Herff Jones exclusive BYUI site. This link is also on the University Store website.
Pre-ordering bundles from Herff Jones will save students $10 over the regular price if ordered before February 29th.
Students may inquire about order status by contacting our Herff Jones representative, Howard Byrd, directly at htbyrd@herrffjones.com.

Regular Price

The University Store sells cap, gown, and tassel bundles for graduation year-round in the store and online. See the Graduation Apparel page for current pricing. 
These items are available for purchase during Grad Fest or on graduation day in the University Store while supplies last.
If you purchase your cap, gown, and tassel online and choose in-store pickup, the store will hold your bundle until the day after graduation. If it has not been picked up by then, it will be returned to stock. The $5 handling fee cannot be waived.
If shipping to their home, students can check the status of their online order by contacting the store web department at ext. 3480 or emailing universitystoresupport@byui.edu.

Tassels
- All tassels come with the official BYU-I signet and have no year/date signet.
- The University Store only sells the official BYU-I tassel. It can be purchased separately any time of the year in store or online.
- If you wish to have a year (ie: 2023) signet, you are welcome to purchase one from a retailer of their choice. We recommend purchasing a silver signet to match the BYU-Idaho silver signet.

They have a variety of options and finishes for diploma frames. Shop online on the University Store website or in the store. If there is a particular frame that you want that is not in stock, it may potentially be specially ordered by requesting this through Jane Haeberle.

Do I have to buy my cap and gown from the University Store or Herff Jones?
- You can choose to purchase caps, gowns and tassels from other retailers or individual sellers if you would like.
Can I purchase a cap, gown, or tassel separately?
- Gowns are not sold separately by Herff Jones or the University Store. Caps and tassels are available for purchase separately at the University Store in-store or online.
Can I return a cap, gown, or tassel?
- None of these items can be returned after purchase.
Can I still purchase BYU-I memorabilia for graduation?
- Students can purchase a cap/gown bundle or any other graduation clothing/memorabilia online at www.byuistore.com or at the University Store on campus. BYU-Idaho branded items are generally on sale during the week of graduation each semester. Cap/gown bundles are not discounted at the store. Where do I purchase BYU-I approved exercising clothing and Nursing Scrubs?
- BYU-I approved exercise clothing and Nursing Dept. scrubs can be purchases at the BYU-I University Store. Other clothing merchandised such as graduation items BYU-I Logo items (keychains, clocks, water bottles, etc.), BYU-Pathway clothing, Dance Dept. clothing and Sports clothing and gear (including yoga gear) can all be be purchased In-store or Online from the University Store.
