How do I apply to BYU-I as an international student? 
What is the deadline to apply as an International Campus Student?
  • You can see the application deadlines under Application Steps on the Application Process website
When is the soonest I can arrive at school before the semester starts? 
  • You may enter the U.S. 30 days prior to the start of school (see part 5 on page one of your I-20).
How can I pay the SEVIS I901 Fee? 
  • You can pay SEVIS  I-901 online at  www.fmjfee.com and pay the USD $350 fee for an F-1 visa or USD $220 fee for a J-1 visa at least 3 days prior your visa appointment or arriving at the U.S. border (Canadians).​​​​​​​
 Are sponsors required if I am an International Student​​​​​​? If so, who can become a sponsor?
  • As part of the I-20 application, U.S. immigration law requires you to provide documentary evidence of financial support. Proof of financial support can come from you or a sponsor.
  • If your personal funds will not cover the entire duration of your university experience, it is your responsibility to find a sponsor and provide documentation showing their financial support! ​​​​​​​Anyone (a friend, a parent, a sibling, etc.) who is willing and financially able to assist can be your sponsor.
  • If you come to campus with insufficient funds to cover your expenses, you will be asked to return home and complete your degree online.
What is the International Student Deposit?
  •  International students are required to make a $4,000 deposit before the form I-20 can be created. The deposit is refundable if you decide not to attend. You can find more information at Finances about the deposit policy.​​​​​​​
Where can I have my high school credits be certified if attended outside of the United States?
How do I get a job on campus as an international student?
  • You can view and apply for campus jobs on the Student Employment website.​​​​​​​
 Which English tests are accepted at BYU-I for an International Student? 
How long does it take one to get my I-20 document after I pay my fees?
  • The estimated time to receive your I-20 document will depend on when it was submitted and any additional issues that may come up. For an estimated completion date for your I-20, contact International Services (scroll down to see contact information and hours) ​​​​​​​
