Zoom recordings

Good morning!

I teach Ensign College Accounting 101 and am the ACL.

I have just begun having Zoom office hours.  My desire is to record them and make the recordings accessible to myself and especially to my students.  I have tried to record the first two or three meetings.  I know that at least one of them indicated that the recording was being processed or prepared--not sure ot the term.  However, despite suggestions from my supervisors, I have not been able to access any recording.  I am in need of help for two things.

First, should I record "on the cloud" or not? As I recall there was another choice.

Second, where and how can I and my students access the recordings?

Thank you!

If you have been saving your recordings to the cloud, they should be accessible through Canvas. To access them in Canvas, go to the My Media tab and you should be able to see all your recordings there. Also make sure that you were signed into your Ensign email in zoom when you made those recordings, otherwise they won't be accessible through My Media. You can also save your recordings locally which means the recording saves as a file on your computer. You can use either option, but if you save recordings to the cloud you can share them by just getting a link to the online copy. Whereas if you were to save them locally, sharing the recording would mean uploading the file to a Canvas post or sending the file to someone.

To share cloud recordings with your students, you can either get a link and share that, or embed the video in a Canvas post. Here are links to instuctions for how to do each of those:

As a note, this information applies mainly to BYUI and Pathway classes and accounts. We don't provide as much support for Ensign so I was unable to verify if this information also applies to you and the class you are teaching. From what I know, it should be the same process so I hope this helps. If it doesn't, please feel free to comment here and let me know so I see if there's any other information I can find for you.
