BYUI and Church Account Connection Process

Issue

  • How to link BYUI and church accounts
  • Account linking dates and deadlines

Environment

Resolution

BYUI is changing its login process. Instead of having BYUI students create a new account to use for BYUI website and products, students will use their church account credentials. For current students, this means they will need to connect their church account and their BYUI account so that they can use their church credentials to access their current BYUI account once this change happens.

NOTE: This does not apply to Pathway students. They are not required to do any account linking.

Dates

On Wednesday, February 12, 2025 BYU-Idaho will change to Church Account for account login.

Regardless of when they link their accounts, users will not be able to login using their Church Account until we go live on February 12th.

Starting Friday, October 18th, the entire IT Service Desk team (and a small handful of other users) may begin linking their own BYU-I accounts, by following the process outlined in this article. This will be a staged process, with an introduction of new groups each week or two. Please refer to the project timeline found in the article, Overview: Church Account Login Project.

  2. Verify that all relevant user information and error messages are included in the ticket.
  3. Escalate the ticket to Tier 3 support by assigning it to Tyler Klingler in Identity Management.
