Adding a Passkey to Duo

What is a Passkey?

With help from Apple and Android, you can now add a Passkey to your Duo account in order to authenticate. Passkeys are similar to Security keys (which you can learn more about in this Help Guide) but the key is stored on your phone instead of an external device. Duo will label these as Passkey instead of Security Keys.

You can use a passkey to authenticate with Duo even when you are offline, as long as you have your phone. It is also a great substitute if you can't get the Duo app or texts or phone calls. However, the Passkey feature is only available on newer devices. On iPhone, you must have a phone with iOS 16 or later, and Android 9 or later is required for Android Phones.
