How to Add a Printer by Building Location
Based on your office location, Pharos Print will automatically add printers for you to use. The work location is set based off the wired network address you are connected to. If this doesn't work or for any reason needs to be changed, you can manually set your location as follows:
1. Open the Pharos Print application and click the hamburger menu in the upper right corner

2. Click Workstation Location

3. Location will be on auto-detect, but by selecting the dropdown button, you can click "Manually set" to set your preferred location

4. You will see already highlighted the work location Pharos Print is currently set up with. To change it, simply navigate to and click on your desired building, floor, and office number, then click Select.

6. Click Save.

All printers associated with that work location will automatically be added to your computer for you to print to, and other printers not associated with that location will be removed. If that does not automatically happen, refresh the page. Printers you have added manually will remain on your printer list.
Any printers that you add manually will remain on your list of printers, regardless of your location. To add a printer manually, do as follows:
- In Pharos Print, click Direct Print, then click Add.

- Browse the building list and find the printer you want. Then click Add.

NOTE: All printers will begin with "BYUI", and will then be followed by the 3-letter building code and room number. You will usually see "BW" (black and white) or "Color" after that, indicating the printer type. In some cases, “Hall” (or similar wording) is added for clarification of location.

- Verify the printer shows up in your Direct Print menu

- Once the printer shows up there, you will be able to select that printer from any print menu on your computer.

- In Pharos Print, click Direct Print, click on the printer you want to remove, then click Delete.
- Confirm removal by clicking Yes when prompted. The printer will be removed from the list.
- In Pharos Print, click Direct Print

- Hover your mouse over the printer you want to make your new default printer. A star will appear on the right side of the icon.

- Hover your mouse over the star. Set Default will appear. Click on Set Default and a gold star will appear on the printer icon. The printer is now your default.

NOTE: In your applications, when you go to Print, the printers provided through Cloud Print (via Pharos Print) will be available, plus an additional printer choice named “Pharos Secure Printer” which is used to send jobs to the printers, that will not print until you (the User) release the print job at the printer.
The printers with card readers and “Secure Print” installed are the printers where you can release print jobs that have been submitted to “Pharos Secure Printer”
You can also upload documents (to be released/printed at the “Secure Print” printers) using https://print.byui.edu. This web page (https://print.byui.edu) is the method that most students at BYU-Idaho will use to submit documents for printing.
Accounts
- Right-Click the Pharos Print icon
- In the pop-menu, click the Active Account displayed.

- The “User Portal” will open and display a dialog showing your account choices (see images below). Select the Account you wish to use and click Apply.

|
NOTE: In order to utilize a personal account, you must have sufficient funds in your account to use it. If you need help adding funds, go to this tech guide for instructions.
Each “Point” is equal to one cent. The numbers displayed indicate the number of Points you’ve used previously, and also the (accumulative) number of Points that you’ve added to your account. For the Personal account, if the numbers are displayed in green, that indicates you have enough points available to print at least one page. If the numbers for the Personal account are displayed in black, you don’t have enough available.
For Department accounts, only the amount you’ve used will be displayed.

- Open the Pharos Print icon on your device, click on the three lines in the top right corner, and click Reset Passcode.

- Click Login to continue and login with your Church credentials.
- Once logged in and authenticated, you can then close this tab and you should see a window containing your 6-character passcode.

| Please remember this new passcode. It is unique to you, and you will be using it to interact with the “Secure Print” enabled printers. You may also receive an email informing you that you received a new passcode as well. |
