Tax Forms

Each year, BYU-Idaho provides tax documents to assist students and employees with federal tax reporting.
 
Student Tax Forms
1098-T: Reports amounts paid for tuition and related expenses.
  • Mailed out by January 31; online access starts in February.
  • Online international students must request a 1098-T: Request an Unavailable 1098-T.
  • Ensure all criteria are met before requesting: Unavailable 1098-T Request.
  • PathwayConnect students are not eligible for a 1098-T.
TL11A (Canadian Tax Form): Similar to the 1098-T, reports tuition payments for Canadian students.
  • Requests take up to two weeks to process: TL11A Form.
Employee Tax Forms
W-2: Income report for employees.

How long does an unavailable 1098-T request take?
3-4 days normally, but up to two weeks during peak times.
 
What if my 1098-T is incorrect?
Visit the Accounting Office for assistance.
 
Where can I find my W-2?

IRS 1098-T Form Description

  • Colleges must file From 1098-T with the IRS for eligible students.
  • Reports qualified tuition payments and related expenses.
  • Not required to attach to tax returns; claiming education tax benefits is optional.
  • Most international students do not need a 1098-T.
  • U.S. students with financial transactions on their student account will receive the form online or by mail in late January/early February.
