If you are attending BYU-Idaho and planning to serve soon, here are some quick answers that will help you to prepare.
Should I notify the school that I am leaving for a mission?
- Yes, keeping us in the loop allows you to keep your student status and prevents you from having to reapply after returning from your mission. You can hold your enrollment while you are gone by making a request on our Missionary Deferments website.
How does a mission affect my student loans?
- Student loans go into repayment any time you are taking less than 6 credits for more than 6 months. However, repayment plans are available that may help. See Repayment Plans for specific options.
Do I need to let the school know if I am reassigned to another mission midway through my mission?
- Submit a new missionary deferment request to update your new mission information on the Missionary Deferments website.
