What About Other AI Tools?

There are many AI tools available beyond the three listed above (Claude, Grok, Perplexity, and AI features built into products like Zoom, Microsoft 365, and Apple devices). You are free to use other AI tools with publicly available data. However, BYU-Idaho only provides institutional licenses, data protections, and training resources for the approved tools on this page. Do not use unapproved tools with Internal, PII, or Restricted data, and do not purchase AI tools with university funds without going through the IT Help Center.

Need AI Tools or Software?

The IT Help Center is the front door for all AI and software requests at BYU-Idaho. If you need a tool that is not listed on this page, want to use an approved tool with data above its approved classification level, or have a new software acquisition in mind, visit the IT Help Center and select Request Software to get started.

Data Security

Do not enter internal, sensitive, or restricted data into any generative AI tool unless it is approved for that data classification level. Only publicly available information may be used in tools approved at the Public level.
