Choosing a Major

  • Students can choose a major using I-Plan. Refer to πŸ“ƒChange my Major.

Choosing/Changing Emphasis

  • Emphasis is based on major and catalog year. 

  • Automatically comes with the major.

  • Cannot be changed unless student changes major or catalog year.

  • πŸ“ƒChanging majors, minors, and emphasis are the same process.

  • Set up an advising appointment for additional questions.

Changing Major

  • Create an alternative Grad Plan in I-Plan.

  • Approve plan (If denied, contact advising at (208) 496-9800).

Choosing a Minor

  • If a minor is not required and causes you to exceed 120 credits, it cannot be added.

What is a Minor?

  • A group of classes (20-25 credit hours) focusing on a certain subject (can be related or unrelated to major).

    • ⚠️ Education Majors MUST choose an educational minor.

Adding a Minor

Financial Aid

  • Unrequired Minors will only be considered for Financial Aid IF there is extra elective room in the student’s credit limit.

    • For additional questions, schedule an appointment with advising. 

Clusters

What is a Cluster?

  • 12-15 credit hours in a specific field of study. 

  • Can be used to complement main course studies, or to study something different than the declared major.
