When will the 2024-2025 FAFSA be launched?
- The 2024-2025 (Fall 24-Spring25) FAFSA application will “Soft Launch” on December 31, 2023 During the first few weeks, the Department of Education will sometimes pause the process and do maintenance to work bugs out of the new system.
When should I complete my application?
- Remember, this application is for the Fall 2024 semester, so completing it before the priority and scholarship deadline is important, but students do not need to rush to complete it. (March 1st is the deadline for BYU-Idaho scholarship consideration.)

What issues will I possibly experience when trying to complete my application?
- Planned pauses for site maintenance and to make updates as needed to create a better FAFSA experience
- During a pause, users already online can complete their work, but others may not be able to begin or resume work on their form.
- Students may experience a waiting room feature – this is to help control website volumes and is normal.
- Should you find the website being inaccessible, please revisit it.
Will I need to resubmit my application form if I have completed it during the soft launch?
- No. If you complete your form during the soft launch, you will not need to return to resubmit it later.
Can my contributor access my FAFSA when the site is down?
- Yes. If a student completes their FAFSA, but a contributor tries to access it when the site is down, the contributor can return later to complete their portion.
How will I know that my FAFSA application has been received?
- You will receive a confirmation email when you complete and submit your FAFSA, but you will not receive a FAFSA submission summary until their application has been processed – beginning in late January.
When will BYU-Idaho receive my FAFSA information?
- BYU-Idaho will not receive the student's FAFSA information until February, but we will begin processing it as soon as possible.
