NEW FRESHMEN MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Unlike traditional University Awards these Full, Half, and Quarter tuition Scholarships will be stackable with other BYU Idaho scholarships need based scholarships that you may receive.
How To Qualify
There is no application required for this specific scholarship.
Starting Fall 2024 - Students enrolling in college for the FIRST TIME POST HIGH SCHOOL will be automatically assessed based on transcripts and ACT or SAT* scores on file by June 1st of a student's anticipated freshmen year. Be sure to update the admissions office with your latest information by emailing transcriptsubmit@byui.edu. We accept test scores sent from ACT or SAT, from the high school transcript, and also screenshots with the students name, birthday, and all subscores as well as composite scores.
The following matrix shows eligibility levels starting at a 3.5 GPA and 1200 SAT / 25 ACT score:
The New Freshmen Merit Scholarship is available for Fall, Winter, and Spring semesters of the first academic year only. However, recipients can defer the scholarship if they serve a mission during this time.
Students may also apply for the BYU-Idaho Scholarship by submitting your application by March 1st. Since the New Freshmen Merit Scholarship is for one year only, as a continuing student be sure to apply for the BYU-Idaho scholarship by March 1st each year!
Awards will be prorated based on the number of credits a student enrolls in each semester. The New Freshmen Merit Scholarship will be awarded for all three semesters but will not exceed full LDS tuition amounts per semester.
