Welcome to the collections team. Your job will be to access the BYUI Accounting Department with delinquent accounts. You will learn a lot of information this week, but today you will focus on getting to know your co-workers and FERPA.

Job Description
Your day would consist of assisting students via phone calls, emails, and online tickets regarding their charges on their accounts. Making collection calls, which ensures students are aware of the activity on their student account and of the charges placed there. Helping students create payment plans to pay off their past due charges. Taking payments over the phone and updating daily contact lists.
In addition, we also help students to prevent past due charges and progressing in the collection process by reaching out to them about the resources available through the university and reminding them of upcoming payments.
To know where students are in the collections process we have five letters (1-5). Every time they reach a new letter they will receive an email and paper letter notifying them of their debt. We also make phone calls to students when they reach letter 2,4, and 5 as an additional warning.
Tour
Go around and meet all the Clerks. (Nicole, Sydney and Peggy.) You will work closely with Jenn but all the Clerks can help with questions.
Learn where the cashiers are. (You wouldn't regularly work with them, but they are responsible for money on i cards and transferring money from them.)
Get to know Jenn. She is your direct supervisor and will be available to help with any questions or issues.
