FAQ

  • What are my options and how do I found housing as a student in Rexburg?
  • What does it mean for housing to be BYU-I Approved?
    • BYU-Idaho Apartment Living Standards exist to preserve the integrity of the university and ensure the physical safety and spiritual well-being of each student.
    • The Standards include tenets to live by the Honor Code and principles and guidelines found in For the Strength of Youth.
    • To see the apartment living standards, visit Apartment Living Standards.
  • Do I have to live in BYU-I approved housing while in school?
    • Students under the age of 27 must live in approved housing (unless they live at home with their parents).
    • Only enrolled BYU-Idaho students admitted to a track (and BYU-Pathway Online Students) may live in approved housing. PathwayConnect and Continuing Education students are not eligible for approved housing.
    • For more information on student housing and living, please refer to New Students or Approved Housing Exceptions
  • What is Centre Square?
    • Centre Square is the only approved housing complex owned and operated by BYU-Idaho, consisting of two women’s buildings and one men’s building.
      • Offers functional and spacious 2, 3, and 4-bedroom apartments.
      • There is also over an acre of green space for outdoor recreation and relaxation.
    • To schedule a tour or see more information, please visit Centre Square.
  • What is University Village?
    • University Village is University-owned married student housing.
    • To see more information on apartment features as well as floor plans and prices, please consult University Village.
  • If I'm not taking in-person BYU-I courses, am I allowed to still live in Centre Square housing during my flex track?
    • During your flex semester you are still considered as a BYU-I active student and you can live at the Center Square.
    • You must be admitted to BYU-I to be able to live in approved housing. For example, if you have stopped attending and lost your admitted status or have graduated, you are no longer allowed to live in approved housing
  • How do I know which apartment number I am assigned to, as well as my roommates' names and contact information?
    • Please reach out to your housing manager for the information you are looking for. Generally, you can find their contact information on your apartment's website
  • Can I personally choose my roommates?
    • Please reach out to your building manager on how you can do this for the specific place you will be living.
  • Can I live with my family members while attending BYU-I?
    • To see if you may qualify for an exception, please visit the following page and choose the option that best describes your situation. Carefully review the university policies regarding such exceptions at Approved Housing Exceptions.
    • If you live with your parents make sure your addresses are all up to date (school, mail, home and parent addresses)
  • When should I apply for housing?
    • For the Fall semester we recommend looking about 6 months in advance for housing however. Winter and Spring semester tend to have more openings, but we encourage you to begin looking as soon as you can!
  • When can I move into my apartment?
  • What if I am unhappy with my roommates?
