Account Holds
Holds restrict class registration but do not prevent dropping classes. They are placed on student accounts to ensure awareness of financial responsibilities. Most holds can be removed by reviewing the provided information and confirming acknowledgment. Holds are applied each semester but will become annual starting Fall 2024.
Resolving Holds
Past Due Debt Hold
Placed on accounts with unpaid balances 30 days past the deadline. This hold prevents enrollment and diploma issuance but does not affect deferment or transcript orders. To remove the hold, the full balance must be paid. For payment details, see Paying Your Past Due Debt.
Late Fees
Late fees are applied one day after the add/drop deadline, typically on the 8th day of the semester. The fee is 5% of the unpaid tuition and health plan balance. Accounts owing more than $100 at the end of the month incur an additional 1% service charge. To avoid late fees, pay before the deadline or prepay when adding classes on the final registration day. For deadlines, see the Academic Calendar.
Pre-Payment Hold
Applies to students referred to collections for non-payment. These students must prepay for the next semester before enrolling in classes.
High Credit Hold
Applies to students with:
To remove the hold, students must finalize their Grad Plan, validate their remaining requirements, and refresh holds. For assistance, contact Advising at (208) 496-9800.
Plan for Success Hold (PFS)
Placed due to GPA, withdrawn courses, or attempted credits. Applied by the last week of the first month each semester. This hold prevents on-campus registration, except for students who switch to online or Pathway.
