Setting Up 2-Factor Authentication Without the Duo Mobile App

We recommend push notifications, but if you do not have a smartphone or do not wish to use push notifications, you can authenticate through text messaging or a phone call.

Make sure that you are off the campus network when setting up 2FA for the first time or the BYUI network will automatically log you in.

2FA with a passcode

1. Sign into your BYU-Idaho account.

2. Click the box next to Remember me for 30 days, then click Enter a Passcode.

3. You will receive a text message to the phone number that you previously entered in Workday. The text message will contain a passcode. Enter the passcode to access your account.

2FA with a phone call

1. Sign into your BYU-Idaho account.

2. Click the box next to Remember me for 30 days, then click Call Me.

3. You'll receive a phone call from Duo Security. Answer the phone and follow the instructions to access your account.
