Only employees have access to a CES ChatGPT Edu license. Students may sign up for their own free ChatGPT account, or use the other university-approved generative AIs. |
Requesting a ChatGPT Edu License
In order to get access to CES ChatGPT, you will need to fill out a form through the BYU Provo website to request a license. This is due to a limited license availability.
- Go to this site: https://genai.byu.edu/obtaining-a-chatgpt-edu-license
- Click the blue button that says "Apply for a ChatGPT Edu License Here"

- You will be directed to a Microsoft form to fill out. Read through questions, clicking the button indicating you understand and agree to each one
- When you get to the page asking for your "CES Institution NetID or Username", enter your BYUI username (i.e. what you use to log in to your computer) + @byui.edu, not your BYUI email address

- Select BYU-Idaho as the institution, and finish filling out the form
If a license is available, you will be notified by email within 24 hours that you have received a CES ChatGPT Edu license.
