Summary

- How to transfer files to OneDrive

Body

Once you have OneDrive on your computer, you can transfer files from the H: Drive to OneDrive. Visit Accessing OneDrive to learn how to get OneDrive on your computer. Transferring files to your OneDrive account makes resources even more portable and accessible. On OneDrive, you will be able to edit your files and continue to store files safely. And with the OneDrive app, you can access these OneDrive files anywhere.

Most on-campus classroom computers and lab computers should already have the OneDrive desktop app installed.

For Windows

Go to the official Microsoft webpage that has an in-depth explanation of transferring the files over OneDrive through Windows device.

1. Open File Explorer

To find File Explorer, select the Start button and type File Explorer. Then select Open

2. Select This PC from the left navigation panel. Select the drive that has the files you want to move over OneDrive.

3. Select all the folders and files you want to copy to your OneDrive account, right-click, and select Cut

4. In the left navigation panel, you should see OneDrive with the name of your company (BYU-Idaho) on the end of it after OneDrive finishes installing. Select it and right-click to select Paste to transfer the files you want to store there.

A blue and white cloud icon in the Status section means the items are still processing; a green check mark inside a circle means the items are safely stored on your OneDrive. It may take some time for all the items to finish uploading to OneDrive, depending on files sizes and number of files. Folders transferred to OneDrive will remain intact. You can create additional folders in OneDrive both before and after you transfer files there.
